Margot Smirniotopoulos is an accomplished communications strategist and marketing professional who manages top-level brand programs for a wide variety of clients. With a passion for change management, she prescribes to the philosophy that massive organizational shifts are often best accomplished with small movements. To help her clients reach their business and communications goals, Margot relies on her experience in internal communications, social and digital media, advertising, research and project management.
As an Account Director with Spire Communications, Margot provides support within USAID’s Internal Communications office. Her responsibilities in this role include developing the agency’s internal communication strategy, creating and managing content for its online social platforms and assessing the impact of related tools and campaigns.
Prior to joining Spire, Margot served as a Communications Strategist for the Department of the Navy’s Office of Information where she developed communications plans and campaigns for a number of DON offices including the Secretary of the Navy’s Task Force Innovation. She has also managed multi-year, top revenue-generating campaigns for clients including Hewlett-Packard, Center for Medicaid and Medicare Services, National Cherry Blossom Festival and DC Jazz Festival.
She enjoys spending time outdoors with her black lab (Jackson), kickboxing, playing raquetball and skiing. When she’s being a bit less active, you can find her cooking healthy meals for her friends and family.
Margot earned her Bachelor’s degree from Tulane University in 2011, and is currently pursuing her Master’s degree in Corporate Communications from Georgetown University.
