Mike is an accomplished strategic communications professional with more than 20 years of experience handling complex national technology, policy, and business issues. As a key advisor to federal agencies and large and small commercial organizations, he has a proven record of developing proactive, creative, and effective communications that exceed expectations and enhance clients’ mission performance and organizational success.
Since February 2013, Mike has served as a senior public affairs contractor at the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA), the U.S. Department of Defense’s research & development (R&D) organization specializing in breakthrough technologies for national security. He leads development and implementation of strategic communications for DARPA’s largest R&D office, the Tactical Technology Office (TTO), and designs and oversees integrated strategic communications campaigns for some of DARPA’s highest-profile programs and events. Previously, he greatly expanded government-related public relations for Symantec Corporation and built a successful consulting practice with government agencies and commercial clients such as Microsoft Corporation, Booz Allen, Symantec and Battelle.
Michael loves spending time with friends and family, sharing good food, drink and conversation. He’s always on the lookout for good books to read, new wines and microbrew beers to enjoy, and memorable places to visit. And, as his friends love to point out, he is a five-time champion on the TV game show Jeopardy!
Michael earned a Master of Science in journalism from Columbia University and a Bachelor of Arts from the Program of Liberal Studies at the University of Notre Dame.
