Tom Shortridge

“No matter the resolution of your camera or the size of your viewing screen, the most vital part of a video is the story. And with Spire, I’m working with the most interesting, forward-thinking individuals on the planet whose stories are literally changing the world.”

Tom is a video producer and the winner of three Capital Region Emmy® Awards. A one-man band with expertise in writing, directing, filming, editing, and distribution, he specializes in translating dense scientific and technological concepts into easily understandable – and enjoyable – video stories.

Before joining Spire, Tom worked with the National Institute of Aerospace and NASA Langley Research Center to produce several educational and outreach video series, livestream aerospace and technology conferences to a global audience, and implement and maintain social media presences for several programs.

Most recently, Tom supported NOAA’s Communications and Education Division with video production for the international Ocean Today kiosk network and web presence as well as various social media accounts.

Outside of work, Tom is an avid baseball fan, and constantly deludes himself with the notion that someday soon he’s going to get around to writing those novels and screenplays he’s been outlining and planning for years.

Tom received a Bachelor of Arts degree in communication with a minor in film & video studies from McDaniel College.
